This product was listed as a halogen oven with a hinged lid when I bought it, it is now halogen 'STYLED' oven, this change was made after I e mailed them. So if you want a halogen oven don't but this. So this product started on the wrong foot with me, that being said I will try and give an objective and helpful review.
The product was delivered in 2 days well before the estimated delivery time and was in good condition. It comes with accessories which are useful (but I think most ovens come with the racks etc) mine didn't have the baking tray but did have all the other items.
This product has a steel core heating element (apparently longer lasting) and a fan, and not halogen light. When I contacted the seller because I didn't think it was working properly they responded quickly by email trying to answer my questions and convince me it was better than halogen (they were a little sarcastic considering they had mis-advertised it) but I kept the oven.
Positive. It keeps the meat moist, it is convenient and easy to use (time and temp and start), it has a hinged lid (most halogen ovens have a separate stand to put the hot lid on, while checking and removing food). It is easier than a conventional oven to clean, you can put it in the dish washer or put water and washing up liquid in the bowl and set on wash, it then wipes clean, ideal for cooking for 1 or 2 people. it is cheaper to use (I'm told by company) than conventional oven they use 3500 watts this uses 1300 watts, you can change or repair the heating element (I'm told, I haven't tried) where halogen if the bulb goes the oven needs throwing away, the company claim a higher quality bowl made by the same company that makes space shuttle nose tiles, so it shouldn't crack a common thing with some halogen ovens. (I still wouldn't put cold water in a hot bowl just in case)
Negative.. it is a good size but you can't do lots of grilling in it, max 4 rashers of bacon. Meat is moist but no good if you like crispy skin on your roast chicken, I also tried putting potatoes under and around the chicken but they didn't cook properly, I guess you have to swap them around. Food looks a bit anaemic the picture shows a very brown chicken and roast veg?? the cooking times are not really any quicker than conventional and probably longer than halogen, you really need to pre heat this one unlike halogen, it is not advised to cook from frozen which you can with halogen. All of my worktops have wall cupboards over them so it needs to be close to edge of work top to open hinged lid fully, not ideal if you have small children. Only small round cook ware can be used.
I haven't tried many dishes or baking in it yet but do tend to use it when possible for saving energy and ease of cleaning. My family have all grown up so I am only cooking for 2 and it is ideal for that. Over all a good product.
